Tiziana Terenzi's Maremma Eau de Parfum takes its inspiration from the Maremma region of Tuscany, the open, windswept countryside associated with the Butteri, the mounted shepherds whose working life shaped the land. Launched in 2013 and created in Italy, it turns that rugged character into a scent that is warm, woody and quietly sweet.
The opening carries a juicy blackcurrant with touches of jasmine and bergamot, giving the first impression a bright, slightly floral lift. As it settles, a honeyed heart with cumin and iris adds soft spice and a powdery depth. The base of patchouli, amber, sandalwood and labdanum brings a dry, resinous warmth and a gourmand sweetness, with hints of leather and wood running beneath.
Maremma tends to sit noticeably close to the skin, generally carries well across a room, and usually lasts through the day into the evening. Its unisex character and balance of strength and subtlety suit a night out, a professional setting or a relaxed weekend, and it can be worn in every season.
