Inspired by indigo blue, a colour deeply associated with Japan, it offers a distinctive interpretation of floral fragrance, shaped by the contrast between velvety iris and a darker, smoky finish. At its heart, iris is paired with indigo ink to evoke the depth and character of Japanese blue. The iris has velvety, woody facets, while a mineral accord of indigo ink meets the smoky, leather-like quality of blue vanilla. Together, these elements give the fragrance a warm, textured feel that balances floral softness with a more atmospheric character. Perfumers Ane Ayo and Florian Gallo created the composition around the idea of Japanese blue. The colour comes from the leaves of the indigo plant and has been used for centuries in textiles and decorative objects. Kenzo has also brought natural indigo blue into its Japanese denim collections, connecting the fragrance to a wider appreciation of the colour and its cultural presence. This eau de parfum belongs to the Flower Ikebana collection, which reflects Kenzo Takada’s appreciation of floral beauty and the finer aspects of life. The collection brings together three eau de parfum fragrances in an arrangement inspired by ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging. The formula is made with 90% naturally sourced components, calculated according to ISO 16128-1 and ISO 16128-2 standards. Its packaging takes inspiration from the traditional kakemono, a hanging scroll used to display art or calligraphy. The bottle has a graceful indigo stem, and the glass bottles and caps are produced in France with 15% recycled content. The paper materials come from responsibly managed, FSC-certified forests.
