Ultra Male
Jean Paul Gaultier's Ultra Male Eau de Toilette Intense is a fragrance built on contrast, opening with a bright, fresh burst that gives way to a warm, spiced heart. Launched in 2015 to mark the twentieth anniversary of Le Male, it was created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian as a reinterpretation of that original scent.
The opening is lively and clean, with a citrus-led freshness lifted by aromatic greenness and a touch of lavender. Bergamot sets the tone at first. As it settles, a warm spiciness emerges, bringing a rounded sweetness that leans toward vanilla and fruit before drying into a richer base of woods and amber. The character is assertive yet polished, confident without being loud.
It tends to sit strongly on the skin, generally carries well, and usually lasts through a full day. Its warmth suits autumn and winter evenings, while the fresh opening keeps it wearable through spring and summer. It works equally well at the office, on a relaxed weekend, or on a night out.
