Boss Selection Eau de Toilette from Hugo Boss is a 100ml eau de toilette launched in 2006 by the German house. Its character opens bright and sharp, led by a dominant citrus brightness with a lively peppery edge, so the first impression is clean and energetic. As it settles, a prominent soft spiciness and an aromatic warmth come forward, with anise adding a subtle sweetness through the heart. The drydown turns woody and musky, with a soft powdery finish that feels smooth rather than heavy.
Three notes define its character: pink pepper, vetiver and patchouli. The pink pepper gives the opening its lift, while the vetiver and patchouli ground the base in earthy, woody depth.
Sillage is moderate, so it tends to sit comfortably around the wearer and carry to people nearby rather than filling a room. Longevity is also moderate, generally lasting through a working day before softening.
